If your new to my newsletter, I’m Josh. I’m a landscape photographer and entrepreneur. Today’s topic is collections, a collection is a series of 10 or more pictures I release every month and sell as 4x6 prints. You might be asking; “How do I have time to shoot and release a collection every month? Like that’s a lot of work!” And you would be right, it is a lot of work, and it is sometimes difficult to come up with new ideas and concepts or a general plan for what each collection is gonna look like. It has to be somewhat uniform and not just a bunch of random pictures. I like to have themes, for example this month is mostly fall themed (I won’t spoil what else is in the collection since I haven’t released the full collection yet) But the idea is to have a general concept of what to shoot for that month. For some months it can be difficult but the summer, fall, and winter months it’s easy but other months when there isn’t much color it can be a challenge to find an interesting landscape that really captures the viewer. But the best thing about nature is there’s always something worth capturing in a photo :) That’s it for today! See you next Wednesday 😊

I own PerspectivePhotography and I’m a teen freelancer/ entrepreneur and I made this newsletter so I could talk about the things I'm passionate about with other people. Something I'd like to mention right off the bat is that managing a business at almost 16 is.…. different to say the least. Some days combining school (10th grade…. oof) with managing a business feels a bit odd. But more importantly I felt like starting a business could lead to a lot of future opportunities down the line that could provide me with a sustainable income that would build and build over the years and eventually become a full-time job. But the struggle that comes with that is how do I promote a business in such a way that provides a steady income for years to come. I'm still figuring that out. The important thing about starting a business is knowing that even if you are extremely knowledgeable, you're still gonna learn a heck of a lot of stuff by building a business. Just like anything you can't assume you're going to know how to do everything and it’s important to trust the process and just know you're going to learn, and you WILL be successful. Sometimes a positive/focused mindset is all that you need to push yourself in the direction of success. But anyways, let's talk about what made me decide to start a business. About a month ago, I was just sitting around doing absolutely nothing. I like to call that; "being the champion of procrastination" I realized, if I have all this time on my hands then why am I not getting started. I had nothing to do and that was a sign for me that it was time. And I just did it. (Which might I note to any teens out there, if you're just sitting around doing nothing, then you have no excuse. So just get started. It doesn’t matter whether to most people, teenage years are a bit early to start a business. Find what makes you happy and do it.) And this goes for all the adults out there too. Don't think too much about it. Well...think obviously but a little thinking goes a long way. So, my inspiration and thought for you today is, just do it. Or if you're already doing what makes you happy, just keep going! I know that’s a fairly generic thing to say but sometimes that’s all you need to hear to be more motivated then ever :) And on that note, that's all from me today. See you next week! Peace.
